Gunung Ledang

Gunung Ledang or Mount Ophir is arguably the most climbed mountain in Malaysia. The mountain is situated in the Gunung Ledang National Park, Tangkak, Johor. Gunung Ledang is highly popular among mountain climbers in Malaysia as it is one of the recommended mountains for amateur climbers. There is a legend regarding Gunung Ledang which told a tale of a princess with extraordinary ability residing in the mountain. She was enticed to be the wife of Sultan Mahmud Shah and as a method of rejection, she set several impossible missions for him.

Sultan Ibrahim Mosque, built between 1925 and 1930, also known as Masjid Jamek Sultan Ibrahim, is the replica and the second Masjid Jamek which was built in the 1980s. Sitting prominently next to Muar river, Sultan Ibrahim Mosque happens to be the oldest mosque in Muar district. Designed by a local artist, Sulaiman Ilyas, the mosque features Colonial influences in it architecture, with a hybrid of traditional Malay elements.

Pantai Leka Parit Jawa

Pantai Leka, Parit Jawa

Pantai Leka is a prominent bird sanctuary as well as a beach in Parit Jawa. The beach is located approximately 10km from Muar, Johor and is assumed to have an area of around twenty hectares. Exhibiting as a nature reserved park for migratory birds, Pantai Leka provides food and shelter from its local mangrove forests to the rare species. Among the five types of migratory birds that have been seen for the first time in 30 years are the Asian dowitcher, the Chinese egret, the Grey-tailed tattler, the Great knot and the Bar-tailed Godwit.
